To celebrate Traveller Pride Week, we will be hosting a play about the Traveller community. Playwright and actor Michael Collins will perform this play at the Dunamaise Arts Centre at 7 PM on Tuesday May 28th.
This play follows Jim, a Traveller father, as he copes with the suicide of his 23-year-old son. The resulting emotional turmoil threatens to tear apart what remains of his family before his eyes.
To support audiences, Michael Collins will stay on stage after the performance to host a facilitated Q&A and discussion about the subject of suicide within the Traveller community.
Members of Laois Traveller Action Group as well as local professional services will take part in these discussions. There will also be information stalls in the foyer on the night of the event.
